Expect the Unexpected: 10 Things that Will Happen During a Launch
Here are 10 things that happen when you launch, whether you like it or not. When you know what to expect, you can handle them like a pro.
💸 1. More sales means more refund requests.
It’s a percentage game. Higher revenue = more refunds. Don’t panic, just stick to your refund policy.
😭 2. You will feel irrationally emotional over small things.
It’s not the webinar, the email, or the typo. It’s the stress of selling. Expect it. Have a plan to decompress.
📊 3. Someone will ask for a discount—and then buy something else full price.
IIt’s not about affordability, it’s about perceived value. Your job isn’t to lower your price. More about this here.
📉 4. The mid-launch dip will convince you it’s all going wrong.
Sales follow patterns. The middle is always quieter. Your job? Keep showing up, keep engaging, and stick to your plan.
🔮 5. Your energy matters more than logic.
People don’t just buy because of pricing or bonuses. They buy because they trust your confidence. If you’re drained or second-guessing, they will feel it.
🧐 6. No one outside your world will truly get what you're going through.
Launching messes with your head. Your family will say, “How’s your project?” while you’re calculating conversion rates in your sleep.
📢 7. It is not over until it's over
Feeling wobbly because no one's bought? Do not cancel before your deadline. People are watching, so you never know who's got your tab open in their browser.
💰 8. Your other offers will get a sales boost.
When you're promoting, you are making yourself more visible and curious people will look around your website, find cool things, and buy some. Great news for all.
🛁 9. You'll have lots of great ideas when you step away.
Stop refreshing the dashboard and go out for a walk, have a shower, or go to bed. Do not forget your notepad.
📈 10. The moment you stop obsessively refreshing your sales page, someone buys.
Let go of the hyper-control. Go do something else. The best launches are built on trust—in your strategy, your audience, and yourself.
Launching Sounds Intense. Here’s What You Need to Remember.
I’ve worked with clients at all levels of online business, and probably launched over 50 times myself. So take it on good authority that you are not alone if a few of these moments hit you all at once.
Launching can feel like a highly pressured process, forcing you to go “all out” and push yourself to do the most of everything. But in reality, remember that a launch is just a limited-time promo.
You’re allowed to re-promote in future, and you’re here to collect helpful data. It is not a verdict on your whole business.
How Can I Make Launching Less Stressful?
The worst mistake people make when launching is saying YES to too many things.
We're told about the options all the time: ads, webinars, challenges, email series, sales videos, whatever.
So when you think about launching, suddenly you think you need to do it all. Your beloved offer becomes an exhausting project. You do NOT need to do this! What if launching was just another way to promote?
Rename it, reframe it, call it a promo. That's totally fine.
But if you hesitate, chances are your great offer will idle along instead of reaching its potential. So say YES to the promo, but NOT NOW to the options that will add too much bulk.
How do I Know if my Launch is Actually Working?
It’s easy to panic if you’re staring at the dashboard on day 4 of your launch and the numbers aren’t moving the way you hoped. But stay the course now. You are giving your audience a deadline for a reason.
To see if your launch is catching attention, check out
the data: Email opening rates, click rates, sales page views, website views, social media engagement. If people are reading, they’re thinking about you.
the responses: Anyone replying to your emails? Asking questions? Even if they don’t buy yet, these are good signs.
the hesitations: Are buyers sharing any objections? Telling you about their hesitations? Another good sign! You can gently ask a few questions, without adding any pressure.
Momentum will keep building the more you talk about what you are promoting, so keep on going for it.
How to Do a Perfect Launch
Your ingredients for any launch, no matter your budget and capacity:
Set a start and end date.
Decide on the offer details. A discount? Open and close the programme? A bonus? Write it down. Be consistent.
Make a marketing plan. Where will you promote? Who’s your audience?
Dig deep when it comes to messaging and sales page. Write from the heart. Tell them why this matters and how they benefit.
Get eyes on your sales page and tell great stories.
